Children from the St. Alphonsus Catholic School and Tiger Scouts Pack 119 recently had the opportunity to experience an educational fieldtrip at Forever Smiles, the Buffalo Grove orthodontic practice of Dr. Yan Razdolsky.
Our young scholars were introduced to the dental and orthodontic
professions, and learned about tooth straightening techniques, the importance of oral hygiene, and how their education and modern technology are integrated into the dental and medical fields.
The students were particularly impressed with Forever Smiles’ newest piece of equipment: the i-CAT FLX. Dr. Yan Razdolsky explained how this 3-D dental imaging device has helped identify undiagnosed decay, disease and even a brain stent in his patients. He then gave the students a sneak peek into the world of a dentist by showing them 3-D images of teeth, gums and facial bones, similar to those he sees every day. It was almost like having a front row seat to a 3-D movie.
After all of the excitement, students received snacks, as well as gift bags filled with toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss and toys. Forever Smiles also kindly made a contribution to the Cub Scout Troops to assist continued efforts to provide the best possible education for children.
A note from Dr. Yan Razdolsky and his staff: “We are grateful to teachers and parents for allowing their students to experience learning outside the classroom and acquire more knowledge about the field of orthodontics.”
